Miss Amy’s LLC is a Reggio-Emilia inspired childcare center for children twenty-two months to seven years of age. Miss Amy’s was founded in 1992 in the heart of historic Abingdon, Virginia. Our fully licensed center engages children in play-based learning, as we believe our community is also our classroom and our teacher. Child-led and child-centered learning through play and exploration shape our daily activities and projects. We are outdoors in all seasons, paying attention to nature’s rhythms and cycles. We use creativity and a problem-solving approach in all our learning adventures.
Inspired by the knowledge that eighty-five percent of brain development occurs between birth and age five, we are committed to nurturing the whole child socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. Miss Amy’s is a Smart Beginnings partner and a level four rated preschool participant in Virginia’s Star Quality Initiative. This is a state-wide program working with communities to improve the quality of early childhood programs and to raise awareness of the critical importance of these precious early childhood years. Most recently we were voted as Best of Virginia 2019 by the readers of Virginia Living magazine. We also are a Better Business Bureau accredited business with an A+ rating.
